I am a woman, 39 years old. I was once this smoking-hot spunkrat, but I have gained two or three kilograms a year for fifteen years. It happened so subtly that I didn't really notice until I had to give up clothes shopping because fat lady clothes are foul. Since noticing that I keep growing out of my pants I've made a few slight changes but I still keep getting fatter. I can keep slobbing about on the couch inhaling caramellos or I can turn this around now and thin down with the correct skin-to-person ratio.
A person will lose weight if their energy output exceeds their energy input, so I have to eat less and move more. The problem is that like all fat people I love food, and I hate exercise. And so, the premise: to discover how close 1000 Feats of Contrition will get me to my goal, which is to be a smoking hot spunkrat again.
1000 Feats of Contrition will list everything I have forced myself to do to turn around my weight gain. It will include feats of denial - the foods I haven't let myself eat, and feats of determination - the exercise I have forced myself to do. I might even count feats of duty - the effort it takes to have good food in the house to eat instead of picking up a rooster roll on the way home from work, or the effort it takes to organise some time out to engage in some exercise. Buying and cooking good food probably isn't something that hot people need to think about, but right now it's a monumental chore for me, as is putting together everything I'll need for a gym stop on the way to work.
I am 174 cm tall, and today I weigh 103.9 kg. My final goal is To Be A Smoking Hot Spunkrat, which was me at, say, 75 kg. At this age it's unlikely that I can reverse the engines that comprehensively, and it's best to set much smaller goals, so for now I will experiment with how many Acts of Contrition it takes to no longer be obese. At my height, obesity is any weight over 93 kg. I remember discovering that I had crossed the threshold into Obesity - it made me feel old and fat. So my current goal is 92.5 kg by my 40th birthday in August. Let's say 2 kg a month. If I'm not making that goal by, say March, I'll increase the weekly Acts of Contrition count.
I may find that once I get into the swing of things and lock in some good habits and drop some bad habits it all becomes easier, but I doubt it - I just love food, and I just hate exercise. I'd love to lose my taste for the food I love and to start enjoying exercise. If either of those things happen, it will make this blog redundant, because I won't be noticing that I had to pry myself out of bed to go for a run or that I didn't buy milo this week. That's a problem I'd really love to face. It would be schmick if Eating Well became a hobby for me. That's not a goal, but if this blog closes down with me, say, marathon running at 80 kg, you'll know that it's time to bin the chips and to set up your own fat blog.
It's a new year, and this is when people do this sort of thing.
